30 June 2024: Find your ideal vacation

I recently traveled to a beautiful island.
The weather was moderate, and the beaches were adorable with pristine sand and lush greenery. Like many holiday destinations, this one was a must-visit, but what impressed me the most was the peace the place offered.
To me, peace and solitude are the highest priorities when on holiday. Essentially, I consider my holiday time to be a no-work, all-rest period. It’s not about escaping from work; rather, it’s about resetting to zero for a longer duration.
Here’s what I did, which may sound absolutely normal but added value to my trip:
I rested a lot.
I really just sat on the swing, near the beach, or wherever I could simply sit.
I didn't use my phone much.
Thanks to my dear wife for capturing our moments together with her phone, I had the opportunity to keep mine aside.
I meditated.
It didn't matter where, when, or how. Whenever I found a window of opportunity, I meditated for almost half an hour every day. It definitely added quality to my holiday.
We walked.
I have always been fond of walking, and I didn’t want to miss the fun of walking on a tiny island. Grabbing the opportunity, my wife and I walked almost 15,000 steps every day. It was everything I wanted.
We talked.
My holiday meant I could do two things that sit at the top of my heart: enjoying nature and silence, and spending time with my wife. I can't even fathom the number of topics we covered while walking or sitting. It was definitely a relationship-nourishing time for me.
How are you planning your next trip?
