15 October 2023: On finding out why, Rumi's foolish joy, meditation of the week, and a question

On why?

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

― Mark Twain

A Poem to ponder:

“If you want what visible reality

can give, you're an employee.

If you want the unseen world,

you're not living your truth.

Both wishes are foolish,

but you'll be forgiven for forgetting

that what you really want is

love's confusing joy.”

― Rumi

A meditation to try:

"Leave yourself alone for 10 minutes. Sit down in a quiet room, close the door, and turn off your phone. Now, take a few minutes to relax before preparing yourself for the task. Catch your next thought when it comes. It won’t take long for it to appear, but be aware when it does. Don’t take any action; just mark it, similar to ticking off a task. Once done, wait again for the next one. Continue for few minutes and then leave the room and task altogether."

Try this and let me know what you experienced.

A question:

Can you write down five of your favourite things that makes you happy?
