01 September 2024: On laughter
9/1/20241 min read
In my own life, laughter has served as medicine; it has been an alchemy to see, change, and take this world a little more lightly. It is true that life is suffering, but adding humor to tragedy is a work of genius. It definitely takes a genius to be able to laugh or smile in the face of life’s challenges.
Laughter by Ralph Waldo Emerson:
"Laughter is the joyous universal evergreen,
Which holds mankind together as one being."
Henri Bergson on Laughter
In his essay "On Laughter," French philosopher Henri Bergson writes:
"Laughter is a social gesture that points to the shared nature of our human condition. It helps us recognize our own imperfections and makes life’s hardships more bearable. Through laughter, we find common ground, a gentle reminder that we are all in this together."
Charlie Chaplin on Laughter
"A day without laughter is a day wasted."
